Winter Storm Warning
Issued by the National Weather Service at 3:50 PM MST on January 6, 2009


... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 PM MST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect until 6 PM MST
Wednesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

Snow will intensify this evening... becoming heavy at times... and
will continue into Wednesday afternoon. Total snow accumulations
are expected to range from 10 to 18 inches over the southern
portion of the park. The remainder of the park will pick up
between 5 and 10 inches... except lesser amounts between Mammoth
and the northeast entrance. Travel will be impacted in and around
Yellowstone National Park. West to southwest wind will produce
some blowing and drifting snow along with localized whiteout
conditions. Be sure to check Road conditions by dialing 5 1 1
before traveling.

Remember... a Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather
conditions are imminent or highly likely.
